Driving Backwards In Dreams

Some things are obvious. Driving backwards is clearly a symbol of something wrong, dangerous, or contrary to desire.

This dream could refer to any aspect of your life. This writing provides tools to assess your dream.

Remember the principle previously given: The forces of good & evil behind dreams desire to communicate with you. The backward aspect is very clear. But, in what area of your life are you "moving in the wrong direction?" Ask yourself these questions:

Driving backward can mean moving in a direction which is generally known to be "wrong" or "backward" for all society.

1. Do I already know where I am "going backward"? Some examples can be: returning to a bad habit such as excess alcohol or drunkenness; drug use; suicidal thoughts (especially if you had them before); avoiding responsibility; or even an escalating conflict at home or in the work place. All these things are contrary to forward motion in life.
This should be something that is actually reverse motion. A block, such as failure to pass an exam, earn a promotion, or cross some developmental line is NOT reverse motion. Forward pressure, even without progress, is normal. Life comes in plateaus and periods of growth.

2. Am I spiritually going backward? The foundation of life is based on the spirit. Ignoring this can cause a problem. However, going backward would imply bringing bad spiritual teachings into your life. Many religions in the world are actually satanism in disguise. Consider carefully this short list: Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam actually worship satan. Dreams of going backward could indicate negative motion spiritually. Bringing dark forces into your life will begin to manifest in other areas of your life: relationships, personal, health, finance and in your PEACE.
If your dreams of going backward are also associated with a loss of peace, a spiritual problem is most likely. Stress over a major event, like death or divorce, is normal. Do not apply these in this interpretation.

3. Prayer is absent. This is the exception to the above. Failing to pray is to your spirit as failing to eat is to your body. After just three days, the effects can be felt and observed. If you do not feed your spirit the "daily bread" of prayer, you are going backward! Your spiritual health is fading and weakening. Other ways to feed your spirit are reading the Bible, attending a GOOD church and obeying God.

4. Eating bad food or ignoring exercise can send your physical health in reverse. Your dreams could signify a call to change your physical condition. Are there other elements in the dream to support this?

5. Mental health: Our physical and mental health are important to us. They impact our quality of life and enable or hinder our capacity to enjoy. If mental health is deteriorating, there should be some aspect in the dream which signals this. Another aspect of dreaming that could signal mental health deterioration is the presence of scattered, jumpy, or disorganized dreams. Fast, shifting, disorganized dreams can also be part of reorganizing thoughts and perceptions.

6. Personal Relationships. Consider anger. If the driving backward also involves a crash, this could represent conflict with another person. If another person is in the car with you, this does not automatically mean conflict. A co-passenger can represent someone else also going backward with you. For example, a co-worker in a failing business might appear as a passenger in a car going backward or downhill. Remember- the dream is meant to convey a message to you. It should make sense to you.

  1. whoa, wtf..?

I was somewhat digging this explaination until i read:
"However, going backward would imply bringing bad spiritual teachings into your life. Many religions in the world are actually satanism in disguise. Consider carefully this short list: Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam actually worship satan."

Lol. where did that come from?

  2. Neil: Dreams are a major avenue of interaction with the spiritual reality. If our mental interface is to interpret what we see in the world through a collection of rules that actually cause us to understand incorrectly, then we will be going backward.

False religious systems, including many which claim God and claim Jesus, take the person "backward", into deeper confusion and separation from God and from Love.

The comment about Hinduism (which worships animals and false gods); Buddhism (which has both a dark path and a light path, but excludes the one true God); and Islam, which teaches violence and war, not love and unity as God and Jesus taught, is relevant.

A spiritual interpretation is most likely. Other events in life are likely only reflections of the spiritual reality inside the person.

Addressing the spiritual is like attacking the roots. Other interpretations are like talking about the leaves.

  3. A few years ago I had 3 vivid dreams of flying. In the first two I was flying forwards at normal speed, and in the 3rd I was flying backwards at a very high speed, propelled by huge beams of gold lightning. After reading this post I just prayed about all 3 dreams and tested the spirits behind them. Sure enough, the 3rd one needed renouncing.

  4. Sarah,

Lightning many times represents Satan, or other evil forces. I have also seen electricity represent demonic power.

  5. what does dreaming of driving a manual car (which I don't like to drive) backward and forward mean? at my feet while driving, I noticed a pile of something that looked like rice.

  6. The manual car emphasizes that fact that you, not someone or something else is initiating the action. Normally, just sitting in the driver's seat represents that you are the doer.
Back and forth represents waffling in some decision.
The white (something like rice) on the ground represents something pure, like righteous food, pure food. (The Word of God would be one of these things.) This thing, you are putting "under" your feet, meaning you suppress it with your strength. (In the Bible, and in middle east tradition, to put one's feet on another, or on something, represents that you own it. Moses had to remove his shoes to humble himself before God. Rioters in Baghdad repeatedly smacked the head of Saddam's toppled statues in 2003.) Something under your feet means that you control it, it does not control you.
It seems that you want to follow God, but are waffling on the commitment. Is that right?

  7. I dreamed sitting in a blue car and suddenly the was moving fast backward, saw my dad gardening by our house, unable to call him for help. finally, the car stopped by it self at the junction of a road.

Right next day, i got an email from my ex,we had to split forcefully and terribly 6 years ago, since than there weren't any communication. Well, he's from another part of the world, married, i heard and i'm still single.

    What does this means?????

  8. I had a dream that I was moving backwards in a car with my husband (seperated but working on things) at a very fast speed but I was trying to put the car in drive to move forward. The car was out of control and I told him I was going to jump. I jumped out of the car and so did he and we both looked back and watched the car crash into a tree. What does this mean?

  9. Anon- Your dream shows the car symbol. The car represents a body. We all have an eternal spirit. Our spirits enter our bodies and "drive" them. For this reason, the mind translates the spiritual reality of spirit-in-body into the closest waking reality equivalent: driver-in-car. You and your husband are in one car because, when a man and woman marry, "the twain become one", the two souls weave together and are become one.
You attempting to shift into forward represents your efforts to renew your marriage. When you each jump out, this represents the POTENTIAL future, if nothing changes.
The tree in the end of the dream symbolizes life. The car hitting it as it comes to an end shows how life is damaged: it leaves a mark, but the tree continues on.
*Recommended action: An out of control car is "confusion". God is not the author of confusion. Destroying happiness, and destroying marriage is the work of devils. Seize authority and command these to leave your life. Clean your house of any unholy objects like pagan cultural artifacts, buddha statues, pornography, et al. Here are some sites to use to train you for the battle. These will strengthen you to protect what is yours for the remainder of your life:

May God strengthen you and remove all evil from your life. Peace.

  10. I dreamed the first night that I was in a car and my boyfriend doused it and set it on fire. But in a few minutes I was out of the car unhurt and we were walking and talking as if nothing had happened. I asked him if he knew that my cousin was in the truck next to us and could have been hurt, he said no that he didn't see anyone and the dream ends with he and I walking and talking as if nothing happened.

The next night I dream I am in a manual car (my old college car) with my mother and the car won't start. So I want the car so roll toward so that I can start it manually (something I recently learned how to do from my boyfriend). But the car instead began to roll down the hill quickly but in backwards motion, I am unable to start it. Please what do these dreams mean?

    ReplyDelete
  11. These dreams mean that your boyfriend and/or your relationship with him are very bad for you. He was unaware of the fire, but he caused it (or the relationship brings fire). Next, you do something he taught you to do, thinking it will work the way you want. Instead, the action takes you back and down.
    Remember, we must remain pure.

  13. Joshua, explore your life. Is there, are there, some aspect(s) out of control? If you are trying to control the car (the only way you would realize you are unable to do so), this shows you realize something is going both out of control, and in a detrimental direction. Prayer is definitely important in times like these. Ask Jesus to take the wheel!

  14. I don't know where you get your information, but your comments on different religions are not only false, but lead me to believe you have created this site in hopes of converting people to some form of cultish christianity.

As a christian myself, I have taken time to learn about other religions. The Islamic faith is actually a peace-driven faith but there are fanatics who misinterpret the Koran for their own ills (just as there are "christians" who bomb abortion clinics, led the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades (both events killed thousands of innocent people) etc. because they have twisted Scripture of the Bible.

As for Buddhism and Hinduism, you need to learn more about these faiths because both teach that what you do in this life will come back on you, the law of return. Both cultures are predominantly vegetarian (Indians are ovo-lacto and some eat chicken, lamb or goat). Buddha teaches that God created all creatures and no creature should ever be harmed. Yes, both cultures believe in reincarnation, however
God is all-knowing and Loves each and every one of us. On Judgement Day, we will all be called to answer Jesus as our personal savior and our deeds: good and bad-will come into play.

I pray for you and for others who spout misinformation on other religions. I also pray that those who do not believe in God come to know Him and accept Him.

  15. For years, I studied all religions- to my own misfortune. I have read the Quran in Arabic. I have met personally with the head dream interpreter of the Buddhist faith ('99, Philadelphia).

And, like I was then, you are a name-only Christian. A Christian does the things Jesus did: Preach repentance, heal the sick, cast out devils, aid the poor and imprisoned, warn about evil, tell evil leaders they are evil and have nothing to do with God- and warn the wayward, as I now warn you.

When you defend what is evil (eg Islam, buddhism, catholicism), you make yourself an enemy of God. You must choose each day whom you will serve.

  16. Thank you for the dream interpretations.
Yesterday we had a near-terrible accident.
My wife and I went to visit a car-workshop, we came with 2 cars in case we would leave one behind to get fixed. The guys at the workshop didn't had the scanner to read what is wrong with the car. I was cranky about it because that was the 2nd time I had visited them (don't ask me to explain why the scanner wasn't there).

Meanwhile I was also cranky about a family renting our house in a village for very little money (economy is bad) but living the house like some students. Leaving the shower leaking, breaking a window to get in but never fixing the window, food left overs all around the house.

My wife, who was driving my Toyota Avalon as she doesn't like to drive the Chrysler Voyager (borrowed by my mother to me), didn't want to back out the workshop with the car as there is a steep entrance. Since I wanted to phone the lady renting the house asap I said: Come on, do it yourself! No she said! I said it wouldn't be a problem.
I got into the Voyager and saw my wife, her sister and our baby-girl of 1 year old move backward crossing the street while traffic barely managed to stop, one car barely got by in time, and saw the car drive into a pole at the other side of the street.
Of course, for me it seemed a slow-mo event. Horrible!
Apparently she got scared while going down, placed the automatic gear in "P", the car jumped through the "P" killing the engine, leaving the car without breaks and without steering aid.

I felt (and still feel) very guilty of course. Almost sending my dear family to the hospital or worse!!

The two ladies and the baby inside the car didn't notice a thing. They just felt the car roling backward without any idea of what was going on. It was all a "drama-show" apparently meant for me to live.

You mentioned about "being in conflict" with someone. You speaking about demonic stuff, well I really get the feeling this family renting our house is evil. They live without a routine and can have breakfast at 1pm. They seem to have no values. They leave the lights of the terraces constantly on, also during day.. I saw their fridge: it only contained Danone yoghurt, supposingly for children, but they have 3 children, the youngest being 18 years of age.

The car got damaged, my family did not. I thank God for saving my family! It is very intense.

ps. I know you interpret dreams, but I do sometimes apply this on real-life events.
The night before all this I dreamed my car was parked somewhere and when arriving at the car my plates were taken off with a not on it saying I wasn't allowed to drive it. I guess that was a sign for me. But how many times do I dream similar "signaling-something" dreams about the next day and nothing happens.

    Thank you for reading.
